Georgia is one of the locations where Little Debbie purchases their peanuts.  It's this southern state that regularly produces half of the peanuts in the United States!

Did you know that peanuts are actually not nuts? They are legumes. They grow underground rather than on trees. Peanuts more closely resemble beans and peas, which are edible seeds enclosed in pods.

The average American consumes more than six pounds of peanuts and peanut butter products each year, according to the National Peanut Board.

Jimmy Carter wasn't the only former presidential peanut farmer. Thomas Jefferson was also a man with a taste for cultivating peanuts!
